Copper fertilization in crop rotation. Pt. 2. Uptake and utilization of copper by plants and its dynamics in soil

Research was conducted in 1978-1984 on strong loamy sand and medium loam using fertilization of soil with copper in doses 5, 10 and 20 kg Cu/ha in the first year of four-field rotation. It was stated that after fertilization effects of copper were present for four years. It met needs of cultivated wheats, corn and horse bean for this element while fertilized in dose of 10 kg Cu/ha. Sugar beets absorbed most quantity of copper which indicated its great nutritive requirements. Use of the 10 kgs-dose of Cu per hectare also improved richness of soil in well absorbed copper which accumulated mainly in the accumulative layer of profile. Low utilization of copper from fertilizer by plants cultivated in rotation suggests purposefullness of introducing of leaf-direct feeding of these plants with great demand for this element
