Effects on benefits of government and private sectors in Ubon Ratchathani resulting from the 1978 cabinet resolution to halt logging (Thailand)

The study found that it was not only the cause of the reduction in the rate of forestry employment but also income of the government and private forest enterprises. The total number of unemployed workers were 782, this included 584 from logging, 103 from lumber production and 95 from reforestation. The amount of income loss of those unemployed workers in term of labour wage by such forest enterprises were 1,118,310 556,200 and 534,975 baht respectively. The total values of income loss of the government (royalty and fees etc.) and private forest enterprises per year were about 9,598,059 and 22,759,465 baht respectively. In addition, the accumulative income loss during 6 years period of this cabinet resolution (1979-1985) at the 5 levels of given interest rate namely 12 13 14 15 and 16 % per year are 246,625,959 252,932,011 259,399,135 266,030,369 and 272,831,791 baht respectively.
