Performance of two morpholine-based fungicides when applied to groundnut by ultra-low volume at five different phosphate fertilizer levels

This investigation sought to determine, at five levels of phosphate fertilizer, the efficacy of three fungicide mixtures, tridemorph/maneb, tridemorph/MBC/maneb and MBC/maneb, for the control of groundnut diseases, and the effects of these treatments on yield in Nigeria. The three mixtures were equally effective in controlling groundnut leafspots caused by Cercospora arachidicola Hori and Cercosporidium personatum (Berk. and Curt.) Deighton and rust caused by Puccinia arachidis Speg. Control improved with increasing P2O5 levels, at least up to 18 kg P2O5 ha**-1. Tridemorph significantly reduced yields of pod and haulm when compared with the other fungicide treatments, particularly at lower phosphate levels (9 kg ha**-1). MBC stimulated haulm production and when mixed with tridemorph and maneb greatly improved yields of both pod and haulms when compared with the tridemorph/maneb combination.
