Effect of late sowing time upon yield of maize (FAO maturity groups 100-200) grown in the conditions of irrigation was investigated. The investigated hybrids had satisfactory grain yields if planted in the period from June 1st to July 1st. The obtained average yields ranged from 4.10 t/ha- (sowing on 1st July) to 7.38 t/ha- (sowing on 1st June). The grain yield increased with the increase of number of plants per unit surface regardless of the sowing time. The required plant density was about 90,000 plants/ha- . Sowing in July (July 10th) did not provide a successful grain production. The grain had a high moisture content and could therefore be used only for silage.
