The first determination of Ornithostrongylus quadriradiatus (Stevenson, 1904, Travassos, 1914) in Yugoslavia

In the course of autopsy of a large number of pigeons (Columbia livia), that had died at the end of August and the beginning of September, 1987 in the area of Belgrade (Yugoslavia), we observed a large number of small, fragile, pink parasites in their small intestines free in the mucus or attached to the mucus or attached to the mucous layer. Their classification indicated the nematode Ornithostrongylus quadriradiatus (Stevenson, 1904) Travasson, 1914. Since this is the first time this species has been determined in Yugoslavia, we present the morphological characteristics which essentially agree with those in the relevant literature.
