Transaminase activity in geese serum during growth, fattening and laying periods

The following has been established by the investigation: the activity of aspartate transaminase in blood serum (SGOT) of genders and female geese significantly decreased during growth (until 4 months of age); the SGOT activity continued to decrease in females until 6 months of age; at the age of 10 months, in the period of intensive laying, the SGOT activity attained a level that was significantly higher than in any of the previously investigated intervals; a similar rise of the SGOT activity in genders was found when they were at the age of 6 months; for the first 5 days of the fattening period, the SGOT activity remained at the control level and later decreased continually and significantly until the end of the fattening period; the SGOT activity decrease during fattening was accompanied by a progressive distrophic alterations in the liver; activity of alanine transaminase in blood serum (SGPT) of females did not alter during the growth period, however it increased continually in the later period (6-10 months); in 4-month old gender, the SGPT activity was lower than at the age of 2 months; at the age of 6 months, genders had SGPT activity higher than at the age of 2 months; during fattening the activity of SGPT varied but variations were insignificant.
