The influence of the polluted air on the osmotic pressure of the cell juice in the pins of the pine tree, silver pine and juniper tree

The effect of air pollution on the osmotic pressure of cell juice, as an indicator of the plant water regime, has been studied on the Pinus silvestris L., Pinus nigra Arn. and Picea abies Karst. The maximum value of the osmotic pressure of cell juice was recorded in the winter time, when the temperatures were low, and the minimum value in the spring and at the beginning of summer (March - June). The increase of these values in the autumn was accompanied by lower temperatures. The range of average osmotic values of all three species showed that they differed signicantly among themselves based on the general tendency of increasing the osmotic pressure. Significant differences were also established between the individual years of the study. All three species can be grown in the city area. The differences between the studied species, grown in various localities during the same year, were not significant. Significant differences occurred in the general (three-year) trends of both the species and the localities, as well as the individual years.
