[Citogenetic, physiologic and morphologic investigation into populations of Quercus macedonica A. DC. from the territory of Herzegovina [Yugoslavia]]

By the cytogenetic analysis of Quercus macedonica A. DC. from the border, north-west part of its area, a diploid chromosome number of species 2n=24 was established for the first time. The investigated karyotype forms 8 metacentric, 2 submetacentric and 2 subtelocentric chromosome pairs. The investigated populations differed in the presence of one, satellite subtelocentric chromosome pair. By the morphometric analysis of leaves, statistically significant differences between the 2 investigated population were established. According to the content of active chloroplast pigments (chlorophyll a and b and carotene) and their seasonal variations, the compared populations also differ.
