A contribution to studying the lucerne hay baleing

This paper contains the results of a test of three types of presses used for making round bales of various constructions, and standard pick-up, high-pressure presses. The presses were tested on alfalfa straw. The following has been studied: efficiency, straw loss during baling, thrust, fuel consumption and used up string. By applying discriminating analysis, the tested presses were graded in different working conditions.
