Yield and quality of the new alfalfa variety NS-Novosadjanka H-11

NS - Novosadjanka H-11 is a new alfalfa variety (Medicago media Pers.). It has been developed at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Nov Sad (Yugoslavia). The selector isMr Dane Lukic. NS -Novosadjanka H-11 developed out of 15 hybrid clones. It belongs to medium-early varieties. It produces the average yield of 68.8 t/ha of green mass and 15.5 t/ha of dry matter (hay) being at the standard level. The content of crude proteins is 1.2%, i.e. 13 kg/ha higher than the standard variety. The variety is characterized with good regeneration; it displayed good resistance to lodging and some diseases. It has strongly developed root system which increases the variety's resistance to drought and low temperatures. It is suitable for fertile and heavy, marshy soils.
