The purpose of the investigation was to study the ecological stability of direct yield components (number and mass of grains per spike) and the protein content in grains. 2 winter wheat varieties (Sava and Bezostaja - 1), 1 spring wheat variety (Siete cerros) and 3 F1 hybrids obtained by crossing these varieties (according to the diallel scheme without reciprocal combinations) were used. A number of genotypes showed higher ecological stability in the number of grains per spike than in the mass of grains per spike and grain protein content. F1 hybrids did not show greater ecological stability for the investigated properties in comparison with other varieties. Genotypes with higher mean values of the investigated properties did not show lower ecological stability in comparison with genotypes with lower mean values. Genotype stability parameters for the investigated properties were not reliable criteria in the choice of varieties for growing in certain agroecological conditions.
