Development of stock-breeding in Yugoslavia and the need for fodder in the period 1963-1983

The development of stock-breeding considered in a twenty-year period is discussed in this paper, and, in accordance with this the need for fodder. Attention is paid to the changes in the number of livestock per breed and to the production of basic domestic animals products per unity of capacity as factors for forming total animal production. Within the the total domestic animals production the dynamic of development is analyzed and compared to the dynamic of crop development and to total agricultural production. Structural changes within the final stock production are also analyzed as well as the influence of some animal products on the scope and dynamic of the total stock production. In accordance with the movement of stock production the needs of stock breeding for fodder are calculated, as a whole as well as per individual sources. In addition to the analyses of total need and needs per certain sources of fodder, and analysis is made of the effect of changes in the structure of livestock production on the changes of the needs for fodder.
