In four-year examinations, the content of mineral nitrogen in the soil layer at 90 cm depth of the chernozem on the locality of Rimski anevi (Yugoslavia), varied from 72 to 125 kg/ha. In the same period, the content of mineralized nitrogen on fallow soil was 73.2kg/ha. The provision of soil with mineral nitrogen had the effect on the soil response to applied doses of nitrogen fertilizers. Beatyield increased with the increasing nitrogen doses, but it was not proportional to the intensity of fertilization. Sugar percent slightly decreased and the content of harmful nitrogen increased with the increasing nitrogen doses.
