Gypsy moth population, which undergoes violent changes in density the time represents one of the unstable components of many of the moderate forest ecosystems. The behavior of individuals of this species (resulting in several possible distributional patterns), could be the outcome of the respective population abundance. This hypothetical interrelationship was tested by the methods of autoand cross-correlation , which showed a distinct initial 10-year cycle. The scarcity of the investigated ecological series (only 20 years), however, leaves the obtained oscillatory pattern open to question.
