Provenance of detritals of the river Tamar sands, S.W. England
1991
Samad, A.
The mineralogy of the river Tamar sands is described giving special emphasis on the study of varietal features of minerals. A total of 40 mineral species are identified in the river sands. The provenance of detritals has been determined on the basis of mineral association and varietal features of the individual mineral. The study indicates although the detritals are largely derived from the granites of Comwall and Devon, their attendant metamorphic aureoles and veins, a small derivation of detritals from older sedimentary rocks of the surrounding areas cannot be excluded.
