Effect of different types of feeding on castor and cassava leaves for rearing of eri-silkworm Samia cynthia ricini (Boisd) [in Bangladesh]

The present experiment was carried out to see the effect of different types of feeding on castor and cassava leaves for the growth, development and yield of aerial insteps neared on castor leaves showed significantly higher growth, development of larvae and pupae and cocoon recovery including shorter larval and pupal period and adult longevity than six other treatments included in the study. These enhanced growth rate, development and yield of cocoons were observed only in case of female eri-silkworm. It was further revealed that only castor leaves were suitable for better rearing of eri-silkworm.
