In 1984-1986, the economic threshold of paddy stem borer Tryporyza incertulas Walker in different soil fertility conditions were developed in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, based on the relation between the egg number and yield loss, the action of natural enemies, the economic and ecological effect of pesticides, and the cost dynamics of product and control. The economic thresholds in booting-earing stages of early and late season rice at certain grain output level were then determined
