Values of different partial energy inputs were calculated (soil cultivation, sowing, fertilizing, stand treatment, harvest, preservation and storing). Different methods of preservation were in the centre of attention of energy evaluation. Both direct and indirect components of additional energy were calculated into and assessed within balances. In most cases, the decisive influence of preservation is exerted in the amount of total inputs of additional energy in forage crops. Energy profit and efficiency were determined for individual technologies. The energy efficiency varied from 5.35 in harvest for green fodder to 0.96 for hot-air. Hot-air drying is not very suitable from the viewpoint of energy, as far as the total additional energy inputs exceeded energy outputs solely in this technology.
