Milk conductivity was measured by a Czechoslovak-made AIV 023 device of our own design (mfd by VDI Obzor Plzen firm) on farms in the surroundings of Leipzig in the course of two years; twenty-two dairy cows selected after the first parturition were subjected to measurements once a month, at morning and evening milking in succession in the period of ten months. The conductivity was determined in milk of individual quarters before and after alveolar milk ejection; the results documented a considerable decrease of conductivity in dependence on the health of udder quarters and dairy cows. In the Czechoslovak Republic similar measurements were performed on different farms in the sphere of primary production; changes in this characteristics were investigated in dependence on the method of collecting milk samples and on the health of dairy cows and udder quarters.
