The effects of water content in agricultural materials on their dielectric properties as function of frequency are treated in the present paper. Potential methods of measuring the moisture content on dielectric principle are classified on the basis of a theoretical analysis, and their practical application is being discussed. The most suitable method being derived, the method of measuring is proposed; several variants of the design of a moisture sonsor for different materials are also presented, along with the requirements for measurements. Considering the results of a comparative experiment, the accuracy and reliability of the proposed scanner of soil moisture content are treated.
