Additional milking concentrates fed in commodity producing dairies primarily contained fodder wheat, corn grits, extracted soybean and wheat grits, according to examinations done at 59 large-scale farms. 34.5 o/o of the additional concentrates consisted of only 2-3 components. The raw protein, fibre and mineral substance content changed between ample limits. Salt was supplemented in only 29 o/o of the concentrates. In 11 o/o of them there was no-mineral supplement. The Ca-P and Na content did not cover in many cases the milk production's need. From the toxic elements, an average of 0.27 mg Cd and 0.8 mg Hg/kg could be determined. More attention must be given to the adequate mineral substance supplementation when composing milking additional contentrates.
