Market possibility and potential of essential oil crops development in Indonesia

Essential oil is one of Indonesian plantation crop product. The projection comparison between Indonesian essential oil export and world essential oil import was used to analyse the Indonesian market probability in international market as well as domestic market. While the potential development of Indonesian essential oil was based on the commodity varieties and development area. Secondary data were used for this study. Result indicated that by using the estimation equation of Indonesian essential oil export projection Y = 2.5 + 0.10 X and estimation equation of world essential oil import projection Y = 410 + 57.22 X, Indonesian essential oil market sharing only 1.7 %, that means the Indonesian market probability of Indonesian essential oil is very high. This is also supported by the potential development of Indonesian essential oil that has many varieties and has big area. (Author)
