Germplasm evaluation of potato (Solanum tuberosum) grown from apical cuttings
1990
Simongo, D.K. | Demonteverde, V.E.
Pathogen-tested potato germplasm obtained from Lima, Peru and Australia were evaluated at Sayangan, Atok [Philippines] (2200 masl) from March to June 1990 for adaptation and yield. There were two sets of trials conducted: replicated (19 clones) and unreplicated (45 clones). The clone I-1035 from tubers was used as control. Tuber yield from cuttings in the first set ranged from 4.8 to 23.6 t/ha with F-7 and 389371.18 as the lowest and highest yielders, respectively. The high yielders were 381371.18, Haile, 720144, Cruza 155, and 27/15. Late blight infection was low in Cruza 155 and 720143. In the second set, tuber ranged from 3.4 to 53.2 t/ha with DTO-28 and F-8 as the lowest and highest yielders, respectively. The best yielders were F-8, Yungay, Aracy, CFK69.1, and POOS-590. The promising clones in this trial were F-8, POOS-590, Yungay, Aracy, and Muziranzara.
