Pre-post tasseling corn borer infestation and their effects on corn yield

The effect of pre- and post-tasseling infestation of the Asiatic corn borer on three corn varieties was evaluated in the field. The parameters used to assess the extent of corn borer damage on the three critical stages of corn were damage rating at leaf-feeding, stalk-feeding and ear-feeding, number of borer holes, and percent broken tassel. Yield was determined and this was correlated with corn borer damage. Yield loss of each variety was also assessed.
