Morphometrical and morphological characterization of Helicotylenchus species has been studied. Helicotylenchus erythrinae has been found in Monte Cafe (sample no. 23). Two other species are being studied using a computer program. One Meloidogyne species has been studied morphologically and biochemically and identified as M. javanica (sample no. 13). The responses of 2 progenies of Coffea arabica cv. Catuai vermelho, 3 progenies of Sarchimor (Coffea arabica cv. Villa Sarchi x Hybrid of Timor) and 2 progenies of Catimor (Coffea arabica cv. Caturra x Hybrid of Timor) to M. hapla and M. javanica are being evaluated under greenhouse conditions. Preliminary results have been presented at the Second International Nematology Congress, Veldhoven, The Netherlands, 11-17 August 1990
