The International Conference on Wheat for the Non traditional, Warm Areas was held at Iguassu Falls, Brazil, July 29 August 3, 1990. This was the third conference sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) designed to discuss constraints and research developments for wheat production in warmer areas of the world. This conference, which comes at the beginning of the project's third phase, involved 31 papers and 17 poster displays presented in these proceedings. They describe the wealth of research being conducted in the nontraditional areas and highlight the multi disciplinary nature of the problems now being addressed, particularly with reference to sustainability of cropping systems. Panel discussions investigate present and future strategies on the key issues of sustainability, breeding and disease research, plant nutrition, and the value of international networking for cost effective problem solving
