The effect of fertilization on the yield and quality of Burley tobacco

The effect of fertilization on the yield and quality of 5 Yugoslav Burley cultivars was investigated. The investigations were carried out in Vojvodina (Coka, Yugoslavia) from 1982 to 1983. The experiment included different amounts of fertilizer (O, 1000 and 2000 kg NPK 6-8-12 fertilizer) and different tobacco cultivars (Culinec, Culinec x Bols 100, Culinec x Spartak, Senior x Sirikit and Burley T) with fifteen different combinations randomized according to the block method. The application of fertilizer increased the yield, total value and nicotine content. The Culinec cultivar had the highest yield, while the Burley T cultivar had the highest nicotine content and a tendency towards a lower quality.
