Comparative study of the nitrate-ammonium ration in fertilizer and the manner of its application on yield and quality of bright tabacco leaf in variant agroecological conditions
1988
Cavlek, M. (Duhanski institut, Zagreb (Yugoslavia))
The results obtained in this experiment indicate that tobacco fertilized with different rations of nitrogen forms did not differ in the agronomic and chemical characters significantly. It was found tendency of a higher yield, better quality, lower nicotine content and higher reducing sugars content in the tobacco where nitrogen fertilizer had 50% of 80% of the ammonium nitrogen. Regarding manner of fertilizer application significantly higher yield was obtained with the tobacco where the fertilizers were applied in bands, in Djolta in 1981. There was, however, found tendency of a better quality, lower nicotin and higher reducing sugars content, in the band fertilized tobacco. For growing flue-cured tobacco in Croatia nitrogen fertilizer should contain not less then 50% of ammonium nitrogen and the application of chemical fertilizers should be in bands.
