Determination of uric acid in faeces of egg-laying hens

A procedure of determining the uric acid by means of phosphothungstate acid as a coloring regent, has been developed. Uric acid stability in alkaline solution, used as a standard solution has been studied. Moreover, dependence of phosphothungstate acid-uric acid colored complex absorption on uric acid concentration has been studied and the results were analysed by means of the least squares method. Changes of uric acid content in the faeces of egg-laying hens has been determined and it has been concluded that the content suddenly decreases after 24 hours, which requires the use of fresh faeces as a source of uric acid production.
