[Application of fungicides as a possibility of increasing yield and quality of spring barley (Hordem vulgare L.)]

The results obtained indicate that in humid climate, in the Fore-Alp region of Slovenia, the valley of Ljubljana (Yugoslavia), low barley yields can be increased by the application of fungicides. Out of the investigated Triadimefon and Propikonazol, the latter showed better efficiency. Application of fungicides influenced the increase of absolute mass but also the reduction of proteins in the grain. Application of Propikonazol reduced the content of proteins significantly more than the application of Triadimefon. The differences were not statistically significant. Reduction of proteins is too small to be significant for the production of high-quality barley malt. No difference was established in the efficiency of the two fungicides against Erysiphe graminis DC f. sp. hordei but their efficiency differed in the case of Pyrenophora teres Drechslera. Between the Kraguj variety and other barley varieties included in the experiment significant differences were established as regards the increase of yield with the application of Propikonazol.
