The research was conducted on the sheep of indigenous breed (Pramenka). Every 10 days of gravidity 3-4 sheep were sacrificed. Ovaries were removed and weighed, corpora lutea and follicles evaluated. The pregnant ewes were divided into two groups; the first group included ewes up to 3,5 years of age, and the other group consisted of the ewes aged over 3,5 years. The study has demonstrated that the weight of ovaries, size of corpora lutea and of follicles depend to some extent on the age of pregnant ewes. In addition to this, it has been found that the weight of ovaries with and without corpora lutea, and the size of corpora lutea and follicles are bigger in the first half of the gravidity period in both groups of animals.
