Mineral composition of the soil and plant mass in Mitrovo Polje on the slopes of Goc mountain [Yugoslavia]

The mineral composition of the soil, herbaceous vegetation and individual plants from the region of Mitrovo Polje situated on the slopes of Goc mountain (Serbia, Yugoslavia) was investigated. The contents of Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn in the soil samples ranged from 3.5-10.5, 102-275, 9.0-16.5 and 4.6-7.6 mg per kg, respectively, while the concentrations of Ca and Mg, varied from 10.0 to 15.0 and 17.5 to 23.7 mg per 100 g, respectively. In the plant material values ranged from 104-603, 16-54, 2.0-6.6, 23-46, 0.04-0.12 mg per kg, and 0.23-0.87% and 0.23-0.37%, for Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Co, Ca and Mg, respectively. These investigations represent a continuation of earlier studies aimed at obtaining a complete picture of the content of different microelements in the soil and animal fodder in Serbia.
