In the years 1987-1989, the effect of different doses of Hedonal DP on Matricaria recutita and Tripleurospermum inodorum was observed under laboratory and field conditions. It was found out that T. inodorum was more sensitive to dichlorprop than M. recutita. Following the application of 1.5 l/ha of Hedonal DP under laboratory conditions, 37 % of T. inodorum and not a single M. recutita plant perished. 2.0 l/ha of Hedonal DP eliminated 20 % of Matricaria and 50 % of Tripleurosppermum plants. Application of 3.0 l/ha of Hedonal DP caused the decay of 33 % of Matricaria and 78 % of Tripleurospermum plants. The retardation effect of dichlorprop on plant ontogenesis was also stronger in T. inodorum. The best results in field experiments were reached after the application of 20 l/ha of Potablan D 85 and 1.5 l/ha of Hedonal DP. Potablan was applied with the height of Matricaria of 3-4 cm and Hedonal in a period of Matricaria having 10-15 leaves. The yield of Matricaria drug and the number of Tripleurospermum plants on a unit of area are comparable in this case with treated control. It was found out that dichlorprop had no negative effect either on the content and composition of essential oil in Matricaria drug or on fertility of Matricaria seeds. The higher doses of preparations mentioned can be used already for seed stands of M. recutita.
