Comparison of different genotypes of caraway under the conditions of Czechoslovakia

The present work summarizes concrete findings on the complex of caraway genotypes which occur and are being cultivated in Europe. On the whole, 21 genotypes of caraway were evaluated in 36 criteria. From 21 caraway genotypes tested, the best one proved to be Czechoslovak cultivar Rekord in the collection of the most significant criteria tested (yield, essential oil content, achene dropping). The best result in both years of evaluation was reached in the newly-bred Czechoslovak caraway cultivar KE-CB-P1 which yielded 2.617 t/ha in the year 1988 (sowing) and 4.596 t/ha in the year 1989 (sowing).
