Lead may be harmful to human body when its content in soil goes beyond the normal level. The content of lead in soils of Hainan Island ranges from 6.20 to 262.20 mg/kg, and is often higher in lower layer of soils than in surface layer, higher in the west part of the island than in the east part, and affected by a series of factors such as soil parent material, climate and soil property, etc., especially by soil parent material
