The bulk density (BD) of the soils in the Argos plain was measured and relationship of BD with soil texture, infiltration rate, management groups and mapping groups of the area was studied, based on soil survey data. In general, the principles which define BD were proved. Fine textured soils had less BD, as well as surface soil layers had less BD with higher variation compared with the BD of the deeper layers. It was found that infiltration rate was higher in soils with low BD and high porosity. The grouping of the BD measurements with respect to the soil managements groups of the area showed a differantiation. The lowest values of BD in all the depths of the soil profile were found in the A4E management group that includes fine textured, poorly drained soils with shallow permanent water table and characteristics of saline-solid soils as good structure and sufficient hydraulic conductivity. The previous results showed that soil survey data can be used to predict technical details of different soil management applications as irrigation.
