Correlations between grape cluster weight and the weather.

The cluster weight, berry weight and number of berries per cluster were studied in the early vine varieties Ezerjo and Rieslingsilvaner and in the late varieties Welsch and Harslevelue. The analysis of a 10-year series of data indicated that the temporal pattern of cluster growth is variety-specific and is particularly rapid for Ezerjo and Harslevelu. No correlation was found between the sunlight sum for the whole vegetation period, the mean temperature average, the precipitation and the temporal increase in cluster weight of the 4 varieties tested. If the 110-day period following flowering is divided into shorter sections, a correlation was obtained for 3 varieties between the sunlight sum and temperature, and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd periods after flowering.
