Hungarian agriculture has been long considered as a "success-sector" of the national economy so that now many people do not exactly understand that this "successful" character can be blamed for numerous difficulties in the agricultural transformation. Such an effect is that the agricultural experts are excessively bound to the established structure, because of which the transformation experiments have not led to a resounding success. Under the influence of the agricultural policy of the European Community, the possibility of western export decreased, and the eastern markets collapsed. Because of the endeavour for the increase of the quantity of products, the environment problems are oppressive. As a consequence of the increase of the size of farms by amalgamation, the organic connection between the dwelling-place and the centre of farms ceased to exist. In the past, the co-operative farms became more and more similar to the agricultural state enterprises, now the question is into what kind of management form should they be transformed. It is important to clear up the questions connected with the land (land commercialization, land property, land use), together with the peculiar questions arising from the identity of the land proprietor and the personality of the enterpreneur.
