[Udbatta disease in Indonesia]

"Udbatta disease" in India or "I-Chu-Siang" disease in China occurred in several areas in Indonesia. Indonesian name was 'Penyakit Kembang Api". It is caused by a pathogenic fungus namely Ephelis oryzae Syd. (imperfect stage) or Balansia oryzae-sativae Hashioka (perfect stage). Based on its ability to invade Indonesia improved rice varieties such as Pelita I/1, Cisadane, Cimandiri, Cikapundungan and Cipunegara, more attention should be given on a future research program. In this paper some results of preliminary studies on the ecology and biology of the pathogen and reviews of the articles from abroad were presented.
