Study on some effects of hyper vitaminosis -A- in broiler chicks

Different parameters have been taken: They are body and liver weights, plasma retinol, B-carotene, cholesterol, bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase and liver content. Two sets of experiments were carried out: in first one content ration of vitamin -A-, the second experiment was performed in two groups of chicks, one treated orally and the other is treated by intramuscular injection. Results revealed in the first set that there is no effect of vitamin -A- on body and liver weights but there was a decrease of B-carotene and cholesterol in blood plasma, this may indicate that vitamin -A- mixed with ration can be absorbed higher than that injected or given orally
