Clonal tea response to plucking standard and round length in the first year after recovery from pruning
1991
Mwakha, E. (Tea Research Foundation, Kericho (Kenya))
Clonal tea was pruned and the following years yield plucker productivity and made tea quality evaluated under three plucking standard (i.e. one, two and three leaves and bud shoot) and four plucking round lengths of 7, 10/11, 14 and 17 days. Results obtained showed that yields and plucker productivity increased while quality declined with increase in leaf coarseness and prolongation of plucking rounds. The optimal combination for the three production parameters was medium plucking (two leaves and a bud shoot) on 10/11 days rounds.
