Analysis of application effect of organic substances in orchards, 1: Properties of applied organic substances in Saga prefecture [Japan]

Materials of organic substances used in orchards were gathered and the properties of them were analyzed. The main part of used organic substance were barnyard manure and the greater part of barnyard manure was occupied by homemade one or one taken over from dairy farmer free of charge. The most part of the barnyard manure was prepared by piling up sawdust, which was layed to the floor of a barn and allowed to absorb urine, along with excrements. Therefore, it was important to judge the degree of ripening of barnyard manure and a method, such that a C/N ratio was judged to be 20 or less when the electric conductivity of the liquid extract of manure is 8 ms or the Brix thereof is 1.2 or more, was insufficient as a simple judging method of the degree of ripening. The moisture, pH, inorganic components or the like of the barnyard manure were analyzed and compiled at every kind of a domestic animal. Except moisture and pH, the inorganic components of the barnyard manure were largely shifted even in the same kind of domestic animal and, especially, K is shifted largely. Analytical values relating to orange pruning branches and leaves, sawdust compost or the like were shown other than the barnyard manure. Form this study, it was estimated that the perfectly matured barnyard manure, of which the C/N ratio was 20 or less, was about 80% and the remainder was applied to orchard in a slightly immature state
