The observations on the occurrence of brown rot were maintained in commercial apple orchards consisting of different varieties of apples in northern, central and southern parts of Poland. Generally infections were quite mild. The control measures undertaken against this disease resulted in liminting it on apples in the orchard and in storage. The best results gave Topsin M (methyltiofanat) and Punch 40 EC (flusilazol). Good field control was obtained with Ronilan (winclozoline), Baycor (bitertanol) and Trifmine (triflumizol). Most of the fungicides applied once inhibited spring sporodochia development on mummified fruit
