Changes of fatty acids in polar lipids from different parts of rape plants (Brassica napus var. oleifera) before and after vernalization

The composition of fatty acids in winter rape was analysed at three different stages of plant growth: before vernalization, after 56 days at vernalization temperature, and after seven days of growth at more elevated temperatures following vernalization. The analyses referred to four different part of plants: three different apical parts of stem and the youngest rosette leaves. The changes in composition of fatty acids, however were similar in all the four kinds of analysed tissues: the higher level of unsaturation fatty acids (DBI) caused primarily by the higher content of 18:3 acid at vernalization temperature dropped again at more elevated temperatures of plant growth. These changes were more clearly marked in leaves than in the other three kinds of apical tissues
