Inheritance of high lysine content in kernels of spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) mutants

The mutants were crossed with the initial forms. Lysine content in kernel halves was estimated by a visual test method. The F1 hybrids were found to have a low lysine content in kernels, whereas in the F2 generation, a low and high lysine contents were observed to segregate in ratio 3:1. The result indicates that this character of the studied mutants was determined by single recessive genes. In order to find out whether the genes controlling lysine content are allelic, a series of the crosses was made. The results obtained indicate that the genes controlling high lysine content in the studied mutants were nonallelic
