Trial was conducted at the Rayong Field Crop Research Center in the rainy season of 1986 to evaluate the effectiveness of some insecticides against some groundnut defoliators. Eight insecticides and an untreated control were compared in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. Plot size was 3x5 m. and spacing was 50x20 cm Tainan 9 was planted with 2 seeds per hill on 19 July 1986. Hand weeding was done at 20 days after planting. NPK fertilizer at the rate of 3-9-6 was applied at 30 days planting. Eight insecticides were applied every week for 5 times. Insects were counted before insecticide application from 3 middle rows of the plot. Five hills from each row were selected. All the tested insecticides decreased miners while methiocarb 0.08 % and prothifos 0.08 % and prothifos 0.08 % was found more effective in controling thrips than the other insecticides. Triazophos 0.1 % and endosulfan 0.1 % were effective in controlling Heliothis armigera
