Mixed inoculum was as good as the best single strain inoculation. Groundnut cultivar x Rhizobium strain interactions were found to be significant for nodule number, nodule dry weight, plant dry weight and percentage of N in top. Rhizobium strains 32 H 1 were effective in increasing nodule number in groundnut cultivars Tainan 9 and Moket, but the strain NC-92 was effective in groundnut cultivars KAC 431. Rhizobium strains 32 H 1 and mixed inoculum were found to be effective in increasing nodule dry weight in Tainan 9 and Moket, while mixed inoculum was effective in KAC431. Rhizobium strain NC92 was effective in increasing nodule dry weight in Tainan 9 and Moket, while THA 205 was effective in KAC 431. Mixed inoculum was as effective as the best single strain inoculation in terms of plant dry weight. Mixed inoculum and Rhizobium strain NC-92 were effective in increasing percentage of N in plant top in Tainan 9 and Moket, while THA 205 was effective in KAC 431.
