Utilization of cassava as sheep feed

Nutrient components of cassava were in vitro dry matter digestibility, lignocellulose-silica, cell wall, cell content and protein that were 77.35, 5.89, 18.70, 81.31 and 2.07 %. Ash content ranged 1.76-3.52 % and 96.48-98.24 % for organic matter. For feeding trial, sheep eaten diet 2 (para grass 40 % and concentrate 60 %) had daily dry matter intake, weight gaing, and average daily gain higher than sheep in group 1 which was fed only para grass. For digestion and nitrogen balance trial, sheep fed diet 1,2 and 3 had mean dry matter digestibility of feed 54.56, 77.77 and 74.42 %. The sheep given para grass and concentrate had a higher dry matter digestibility and lower feces related to higher amount of cassava chips consumption. The average feces contents for sheep eaten diet 1, 2 and 3 were 289.46, 207.12 and 202.91 grams. The sheep receiving diet 2 had a higher nitrogen retention than the sheep receiving diet 1 and diet 3 because diet 2 contained more nitrogen content. But growth performance for sheep eaten diet 2 was similar to sheep eaten diet 3 because the later group ate more cassava chips which has better utilization.
