This season was characterized by further deterioration in the world coffee prices which hit the lowest level in 22 years. This was due to the high level of transfer of stocks from the producing to the consuming countries. The performance of the coffee sub-sector reflects reduced activity because of depressed market prices. Drought contributed to the decline in production which led to reduced procurements. Foreign exchange earnings from the sector was only US $ 36.5 m compared to the projected US $ 41.9 m.
