After a pause of several decades scattered locust outbreaks started in mid-June. It happened in the middle part of Hungary, in the vicinity of the Kiskunsagi National Park. Some months earlier we predicted the possible return of locust outbreaks, motivated by the extended fallowland, by the diminishing pesticide pressure and also by the increasing arid years since the '80s. Dociostaurus maroccanus appeared suddenly in dense swarms, but it was restricted mainly to the dry fallows and bare pastures around four villages
